BEGINNERS

  • Whether you want to start from scratch or brush up on a long lost French, this level is for you.
  • You will learn everything you need to build simple sentences, from understanding the basic sentence grammatical structure to speaking true spoken French.
  • This level includes 40 classes with Levels 1 & 2 of our method, approx A1 (see below details).
  • You can join our group on Mondays 8-9pm
  • Or you can learning privately.

IMPROVERS

  • If you know enough French to get by and need to strengthen your knowledge and move on, this level is for you.
  • You will learn to build more intrecate sentences and master complex grammatical points to be able to take part in day to day conversation. You will see the future and past tenses.
  • This level includes 40 classes with Levels 3 & 4 of our method, approx A2 (see below details).
  • You can join our online group on Thursday 7pm (it includes students in the UK and France).
  • You can also join privately.

ADVANCED

  • If you can already speak to French people and understand many sentence structures, this level is for you.
  • You will see the last complex grammatical points, the different pasts, conditional and subjonctif to take part in most conversations.
  • This level includes 40 classes with Levels 5 & 6 of our method, approx B1 (see below details).
  • Contact us to start learning privately.

CONVERSATION

  • If you already have a good level in French and want to improve it.
  • You will be immersed in French culture using different media and games to engage in conversations and build confidence.
  • You can join our chilled & fun online/face to face group on Tuesday 7.30pm.
  • You can also join privately.

EXAM FOR WORK?

  • If you need to pass an exam for work, we can help you achieve the right level
  • Most exams are DELF or equivalent

Level 1

Beginners

Students can form a basic sentence & ask basic questions. They can understand how the language works. They start recognising words and sounds in normal speed conversation.

Pierre is hungry. There is nothing left at all in the fridge. He is in the kitchen behind the table. There is something in the oven. It is a good cake. Is Pierre a good chef?

Level 2

Beginners+

  • Prépositions DE and all usage
  • ER group verbs
  • Introduction to irregular verbs
  • Build more complex sentences & questions
  • Express emotions
  • All complex pronounciations
  • All numbers

Students can start a basic conversation in the present tense. They can read simple instructions and basic children's books. In class interactions, reading, listening and producing become more important.

For lunch, as the weather is fine, I eat in the garden. My favourite dish is garlic potatoes from the green grocers and a chocolate cake with a nice glass of wine. I am very proud of my flowers that I water every day. I have neither slugs nor weeds. What can I plant next year?

Level 3

Improvers

This level is crucial and will move students from basic to more advanced French. As students foundation is strong and they have integrated the main grammatical structures, they can learn quicker. Students can follow and interact with simple to medium topics. Classes include more reading, talking, understanding and producing to build confidence and independence. Students are comfortable with slow speech and start getting used to the quicker speech of French speakers.

Getting up this morning at 6.30 am and seeing the bright sunshine outside, I thought to myself: “why not go the beach today and pay a visit to my friend”. How lucky I am to live next to the seaside. Tomorrow, I am going to the hairdresser to have my hair cut. I go there every 3 months to relax. What hair cut can I try this time?

Students are more independent. They can talk in different tenses and express more complex ideas. Interactions and speaking become very important.

It is decided we'll go to America this summer. Last year, I hated my holiday and don't want to repeat this ever again. I patiently browsed every site and I've suceeded to find cheap tickets which is exactly what we needed. I want to buy nice trainers there and I saw the most beautiful ones in New York.

Level 5

Advanced

Students now have a good level and can follow a conversation. They are confident with quick speech and are more independent. Speaking & listening are dominant.

Once upon a time, in a far away country, lived a princess who was very bored. She wanted to travel the world but her dad told her it was not possible. However, she knew that her aunt had travelled a lot. As a proof there was this strange stone and the princess had put it on the fireplace to look at it every day.

Level 6

Advanced+

Students are very independent and can speak good French. Classes are designed to strengthen all learnings and boost confidence. The last complex notions of the language are taught.

Come on, get up! I want you to make your bed before coming down for breakfast. Have you learnt your text for today 'The lion that ate the rabbit'? Try not to miss your bus otherwise, you are going to fail your exam. You remember last time? If you hadn't played on your game console, you would have passed.

Where are the classes?

Our Beginners classes take place at the Repton Community Center in Ashford https://www.reptonct.uk/repton-connect/

Our conversation class take place at our students house or other location. It depends on the mood of the group!

Our tariffs

  • Group – £9 / hour for online or £11 / hour for face to face to be paid in blocks of 12
  • Private from £25/hr

Private longer sessions, multiple weekly sessions or boost package are available. Price on demand.
